Rooflines and Decks

On select projects where particular attention needs to be paid to exterior air-sealing, we can install a cohesive air-barrier membrane to the tops of roofs and decks. This is the easiest way to achieve Step 5 air-tight targets assuming responsibility is not diffused to different contractors. Rigid insulation boards can also be installed here to reduce condensation risk at these assemblies either with a split-insulation system or an entirely outboard insulation system.

Concrete Walls

Exterior XPS or EPS is becoming more common with the increase in Step Codes. We excel at these installs and can prime and seal these products with water-proofing membranes if desired.

Wood-Frame Walls

We enjoy installing air-barriers to exterior assemblies and work with low- and high-tech products as specified. With appropriate thought and detailing through transitions in materials and assemblies, the exterior of the building can be made air-tight more readily than the inside can. We also install exterior insulation panels, such as Rockwool, Halo GPS, XPS, and wood-fibre to perfection as well.

Sound-Proofing

Rockwool or fibreglass batts are installed to fit wall cavities and are carefully split or cut to fit around services. We treat these assemblies with the same care as exterior assemblies to maximize sound absorption capacity and ensure that your finishers have an easy time installing the drywall panels.

Under-Slab Prep

Rigid insulations and ground-water/soil gas barriers are installed to perfection at these assemblies. We take pride in ensuring that the substrate is well levelled and that there are no voids, gaps, or air/water leaks through our membranes and seals. Due to the pressures from stack effects, these assemblies are arguably as critical to seal as roof & ceiling assemblies are in order to ensure healthy indoor environments.

Joist Ends and Rim Joists

Detailed extremely well with membranes, tapes, and caulking to be air and vapour tight. Although this detailing is very difficult to achieve, we take particular pride in our workmanship here. Alternately, spray foam can be used to provide a similarly excellent seal with less time needed.

Roof & Ceiling Assemblies

Detailed with batt insulation and air/vapour barriers with the highest attention to detail since these are sensitive areas that need to be especially as air-tight as possible. Alternately, spray foam can be used to create an unvented assembly here if desired and allowed by the district.

Wood-Frame Walls

Rockwool or fibreglass insulations typically fill voids in exterior walls and are completed with meticulously detailed vapour-control layers and air-barriers. We are experts at achieving a “Grade 1 Energy Star Installs” which means the thermal layers are installed with very little voids, gaps, or unnecessary compression. Spray foam is sometimes used here as well.

Concrete Walls

Rigid insulation and/or batt insulations and air/vapour barriers are often used in combination to achieve a well-sealed exterior foundation without problems with condensation and wet wall assemblies common in the past. Spray foam can also be used here.
